So, word around the campfire is my favorite TV show, Chuck, might be coming back earlier than expected. The spy dramedy is scheduled to come back in March after NBC covers the Olympics, but there's a chance that it might come back as early as this month.
While this should be good news to a Chuckster like myself, I have to admit that I'm a little torn about the news. On one hand, I don't have to wait five months to have my show back, but I do not trust NBC to appropriately launch the show with only a few weeks to prep. Let's be honest, Chuck has never been a hit show despite its army of fans, and a mismanaged season premiere could be the final nail in the coffin. There are just too many question marks.
First off, where are they going to put Chuck this fall? Some people feel that this move is a result of NBC's premature cancellation of the second season of Southland, which means the Friday night @ 9 P.M. spot is a logical choice, but everyone knows Fridays is the pasture where shows that are too long in the tooth (Smallville & Ugly Betty), castoffs (Medium), or shows with small but passionate fans (Dollhouse) go to die. I don't want Chuck to be added to that television death row.
Maybe it could go back to its original slot on Mondays at 8 P.M. just to be whipped by House and How I Met Your Mother, or it could take Trauma's 9 P.M. spot, but it would then have to match up against the surging The Big Bang Theory and its P.I.C., Two and a Half Men. We all know how well Monday nights treated Chuck, so I'm not a fan of this idea.
Another idea being kicked around is making The Biggest Loser into a one-hour show, and giving Chuck one of it's spots on Tuesday. This means it would be CRUSHED by either NCIS or NCIS: LA. No thank you.
The timeslot I'd want is Wednesdays at 8 P.M. (once NBC puts Mercy out of its misery or moves it to Trauma's spot once it dies). This is probably Chuck's best opportunity to shine because it will go up against some mediocre comedies (I'm looking at you Hank, Christine, and Gary), and it's only real competition would be So You Think You Can Dance. Then, I could just switch the channel and finish the night off with Glee. I'd be a happy camper.
Then again, this could all be speculation, and we'll just have to wait until March, which wouldn't be the end of the world.
