Quick Thoughts: 30 ROCK, "Idiots Are People Three!" and "The Ballad of Kenneth Parcell"

Season 6 of 30 Rock continued to be a bumpy ride as it followed up last week's relatively funny episode with "Idiots Are People Three!," and "The Ballad of Kenneth Parcell," and only one of the two really worked in my opinion.

"Idiots Are People Three!" was a fine sequel to "Idiots Two" because it continued to build off of the rift between Jack and Liz due to his disapproval of Criss, and I appreciated that the resolution tied up the two episode while still keeping the door open to more conflict down the road. I was also a fan of Kelsey Grammer's return as a fixer type character who helped take the heat off of Jenna and Kenneth for Pete's state of unconsciousness. Plus, I'm always a fan of when Devin Banks shows up.

"The Ballad of Kenneth Parcell" was less successful though. While I was able to tolerate Jenna during the past two episodes, she was back to insufferable self, and I could barely sit through her scenes. Honestly, the same can be said about all of the plotlines during this episode because I found the whole thing to be boring and unfunny.

Maybe I picked the wrong time to jump on the 30 Rock bandwagon. While Season 5 was a lot of fun, this new season has been underwhelming, and I find myself wondering why I'm not watching Community. Yes, it's still too early to tell if this year's going to be a bust, but it's not looking too promising if you ask me.
