Quick Thoughts: THE NEW NORMAL, "Finding Name-O" and "The Big Day"

Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler's newest sit-com may have been hit or miss throughout its first season, but it didn't end on a relative high-note.

"Finding Name-O" was one of those family-centric episodes that usually work, and it was nice seeing more of Bryan's family life. All of the debate over names didn't land for me, but that's because I've never had to worry about stuff like that, so I'm sure there were plenty of people out there who could relate. "The Big Day" could've come off as a very cliched episode because it had to do with a wedding, a birth, and crazy antics, but it had enough sweetness to win me over, and I couldn't help but tear up when Father Mike showed up at the end.

In some ways, this was a great "series" finale but I do hope that NBC gives it another chance because there's a show with heart when Murphy and Adler easy up on the political grand-standing, and it could be a good addition to a Thursday night line-up with some re-tooling. We'll just have to wait and see.
