News: WAREHOUSE 13 and LEVERAGE Renewed

Now, I don't want to get cocky, especially after what happened to Eureka, but I'm glad that both Warehouse 13 and Leverage got picked up for a fourth and fifth respective seasons.

Out of the three Monday Syfy shows, Warehouse 13 is the only one I still watch mostly because of the chemistry among the cast. The Artifact-of-the-Week premise of the show starts to wear thin (but that's true of all procedurals), and the shoddy production values can be distracting, but it's the light and airy moments between Pete, Myka, Artie, and the rest of the W13 crew that makes the show entertaining. I'm glad it's getting a fourth season, but I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up with a fate similar to its Monday night cohort, and honestly a four to five season run would be just about right.

TNT's Leverage started to veer into the repetitive-to-borderline-stale zone like so many other shows before it have done, but so far Season 4 has had a renewed sense of energy. Less emphasis on the Job-of-the-Week episodes, and more focus on characters have been a shot in the arm. I just hope it can maintain this freshness for the rest of the S4 run, which will dictate how I'll feel about Season 5. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for more Leverage, but there's only so many "big business is evil" plots that I can take.

In an industry that's quick to axe TV shows, I'm a pleasantly surprised that Leverage and Warehouse 13 have been able to stick around for as long as they have. It's true that they've been decent performers for their networks, but like we've seen with Eureka, there's never any guarantees.
