Quick Thoughts: COMMUNITY, "Biology 101"

I'm probably going to piss off some snobs, but I didn't think the Season 3 premiere of Community was all that funny. I keep coming back to this show with hopes of seeing the "genius" of it all, but I just don't get why people think this is one of the best shows on television.

I'm going to keep it short and sweet; I did not like anything in this episode that did not involve Abed, Troy, and Britta. Their little plot line about Cougar Town, British TV, and the riff on Doctor Who were the only parts of the episode that made me laugh. The sooner they make this show just about Troy, Abed, and Annie the better.

All of the Jeff stuff about him trying to figure out his lot in life was just pretentious non-sense. If they cannot figure out who this character is by now, then the show runner's not doing his job. And was the point of the episode to say that maturing and growth are bad things? Huh? Don't even get me started on how the group just accepted Pierce back after everything they threw at us last season.

I also don't see what John Goodman or Michael K. Williams are going to bring to this season, and they spent WAY too much time on Chang. All in all, I felt like I wasted thirty minutes on this show, and I'm close to giving up on it altogether.

Yet, I know I'll be back because I see a show that I'd like through all of Dan Harmon's winks and nods. The show just needs to stop patting itself on its back for alienating viewers for me to take it seriously.
