Quick Thoughts: COMMUNITY, "Heroic Origins"

I'm not going to lie, I think I liked this episode more after reading the backlash towards it. Admittedly, "Heroic Origins" was not Community at its finest, but it was far from being a bad episode of television.

I guess one of the reasons why I didn't mind "Heroic Origins" had to do with the fact that I'm a sucker for superhero origin stories to begin with, so Community riffing on the trope was already in my wheelhouse. On top of that, I also like it when some shows try to connect its characters prior to when the series actually started. Yes, it's a cheesy sitcom maneuver, but it works for me.

Then there was my backlash to the backlash. Some Community fans (and critics) take this show way too seriously, and they were upset that this episode ruined continuity (which is kind of ironic when you think about it). I'm sorry but these people are overthinking things and need to get over it already and come to terms with the fact that the show's not what it used to be. They either need to jump off the bandwagon or shut up. Either that or I need to stop reading recaps and message boards.

So, "Heroic Origins" was probably a mediocre episode in the eyes of true fans and experts, but I enjoyed watching it, but that's because I removed this show from its undeserved pedestal a long time ago.
